you know you're at the gate waiting for your flight to cairo, flight lx 236 to be exact, when...the woman to your left is displaying every color of the rainbow in her outfit. half of them in her blouse, the other half in her skirt and the remaining few in her scarf. clashing patterns are a must - floral, checkers, stripes, you name it. along with rainbow woman, there are a few women who've decided to wear every shade of brown and beige imaginable accented with purplish bags beneath their eyes. why do these women look so exhausted? well if you take a minute to listen you'll hear that the loudest, yes, loudest children in the entire terminal are ours. egyptian kids are loud. i can't imagine that these women get any rest at all with kids like these.
one of the beige ladies' overweight 12 year old son is playing tag and runs toward his mother at full speed while screaming. she tries to remain patient and smile, but i can see that she's winded; eventually she loses her patience. every girl is carrying a purse that looks like it weighs twice as much as she does. probably stuffed with clothes that were bought from the clearance section in a department store in the country these people are traveling from.
the men are either overweight or very skinny. either way, their pleated pants are tightly secured mid-torso by belts that fit 6 years ago.
it's time to board my flight. other observations can wait for a later date.
